Rowen & Wren Christmas cards – Oh Christmas tree design

As if a year has passed by from last years ‘Winter berries’ design for Rowen & Wren. We’re very excited as the new range has only just launched called ‘Oh christmas tree’. Which took it’s inspiration from our very own christmas tree – the runt of the litter, left and unloved, we took him in, gave him a name (Mr T) and made him look beautiful. He only had a few branches but he did indeed look splendid : ) ‘oh christmas tree! oh christmas tree! How lovely are your branches’. Little did he realise he would be the star of the show : )

The starting point – Beautiful inspirational mood board & direction from Lucy at Rowen & Wren.
Some initial scamps and workings out
Paper delivered, screens etched and ink mixed. Ready and raring to go : )

First pass, two more to go
Mr traditional tree…
…and co-ordinating wild wood design
Can’t get enough of the matt gold foil, just a little flourish : )
finishing up – trimming, folding, die-cutting and assembling, a highly satisfying process : )
Initial wrap proofs have arrived, looking brilliant and spot on for colour continuity.
The finished wrap and tags together, a new adventure!

The final designs, packed and ready for off. A fine choice of card stock from Fedrigoni. Thank you Mel for all your help
Farewell Lillapa, Hello Rowen & Wren and your new home.

Lillapa Christmas card 2013

This year it’s all about tinsel and trees teamed with geo jumper patterns. Hope you like : )

A lovely stack of pleasing colours – paper chosen, cut, stacked and ready to go.
Setting up for the first pass, screen-printed this time, fancied a change.
Everybody meet Charlie – he’s the hot foiler, he used to work for British Airways, was later abandoned in a skip and found his way to Lillapa land and given a new home.
Some of Charlie’s handy work. This year we went for trees and tinsel teamed with wooly jumper patterns. Already having thoughts about next years card : )
A good close up of the hot foil. I decided to use a matt gold in the end, but could easily have been seduced by the copper. In fact I included this image because the pink, burgundy and the mixed metallics looked so wonderful together

Jumper and trees together, stand back and light your pipe moment.

My personal favourite, grey and gold, yum!
Lucky dip, lucky dip, which did you get? xx
